Social work residential workers in Glasgow were considering plans for industrial action as Socialist Worker went to press.
This follows a 74 percent vote for action.
The Unison union members are angry at their city council bosses’ attempt to change shift patterns and cut shift allowances.
The plans could mean some workers losing up to £1,500 a year.
Meanwhile, members of the Unison and GMB unions at Sheffield council have overwhelmingly voted to reject bosses’ pay proposals.
This followed a mass meeting of council workers last month.
The bosses’ proposal will leave some around £3,000 worse off over three years.
Unison said it is preparing to ballot members for industrial action if this latest proposal is imposed.
