New reports from the TUC show growing inequality and steep falls in workers’ living standards.
According to the TUC, the poorer you are, the more you will lose as a proportion of your income.
It says that living standards of the poorest will be hit hardest as wages fail to keep up with inflation and benefits and services are cut.
A new report from the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) backs this up.
It says that cuts in wages and attacks on benefits over the past year will cut average household incomes by 3.5 percent.
The report adds that the impact will be felt for a decade.
