The annual memorial event to remember David Jones took place on Saturday of last week.

David was a 24 year old miner who was on strike in Pontefract, Yorkshire, in 1984. He was killed on a picket line on 15 March 1984.

I laid a wreath on behalf of Ollerton Branch National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).

Most areas of the NUM also laid wreaths, as did Anne Scargill on behalf of Women Against Pit Closures.

FBU leader Matt Wrack spoke at the event. Paul Routledge, Daily Mirror columnist also spoke.

David’s father, Mark Jones, attended the memorial with members of his family.
