Activists from UK Uncut will appear in court this week charged with aggravated trespass.

Some 145 protesters, who occupied the luxury department store Fortnum and Mason on 26 March, deny the charges.

A selection of test cases will be heard at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday of next week.

The activists joined the TUC demonstration against the cuts, and occupied the store as part of the UK Uncut campaign against tax avoidance.

Police at the scene described the occupation as “sensible” and “non-violent”.

Yet the activists were arrested as they left the store. This is a huge attack on the right to protest against the government and the rich.

Support the protesters: 9am, Monday 4 July, Westminster Magistrates Court, SW1P 2AX.
