RMT rail workers’ union representatives on the London Underground have won an argument that has meant that the union’s national executive has declared a dispute with management.

The dispute is over a number of issues, including ticket office closures, safety and the use of agency workers. The union is now set to ballot all its members for a major confrontation with the tube bosses that is likely to take place in April.

This will coincide with action of engineering workers at the Metronet failed private consortium who are still awaiting transfer to Transport for London.

Activists on the tube are also discussing taking joint action with teachers and lecturers who are to ballot over pay.
