Dockers in Essex struck for the first time in 23 years on Monday this week.
The workers are protesting at the arbitrary introduction of new contracts.
The 45 employees of the Enterprise Distribution Centre are members of the Unite union. They walked out for 24 hours.
The dispute is over the company’s decision to introduce a “follow the ship” contract. This will mean that staff work when the ships are ready for unloading and not to set shift patterns.
