Control room staff employed by the Serco company on the Docklands Light Railway in London planned to strike for 48 hours from 12.40pm on Wednesday of this week.

The RMT union members are angry over the imposition of new rosters, and voted overwhelmingly for action.

Bob Crow, the RMT’s general secretary, said, “The strike action has been forced on our members by management’s determination to impose new rosters which would hit our members work-life balance and which would cost them up to 24 rest days a year.

“The proposed shift from a 12 hour roster to an eight hour roster is a massive change in working conditions. The workers will also be holding an indefinite overtime ban.”
