Around 200 people gathered last Saturday for a rally against the construction of private Olympic facilities on Leyton Marsh in east London.
The rally was organised by local group Save Leyton Marsh, set up to oppose the plans to build on public green space.
The majority of the marsh has now been fenced off, preventing access to the land.
Banners were attached to the fences, including “Save Our Marsh” and “2012 Olympic Gated Village”.
Many people walking and cycling through and by the side of the marsh during the rally were shocked by the construction.
The campaign is planning a protest picnic on the marsh this week.
