Campaigners are distributing leaflets to 6,000 Wycombe District Council tenants facing a ballot on the transfer of their homes to a “not for profit” company.
The proposed sell-off comes when government policy is shifting to allow councils to keep all of their rent income, and plans are being made nationally to build thousands of new council homes.
“We are told that there will be tenants on the company’s board, but they would be bound in law not to represent tenants, but to put the interests of the company first, at all times,” said Paul Burnham, from Defend Council Housing.
