Marxism 2000: just 3 weeks to go

MANY PEOPLE across the world are looking for an alternative to the rotten system we live in. Marxism 2000 brings together thousands of campaigners, trade unionists, students and others to debate what sort of alternative there is to capitalism. Meetings at the week long event include:

  • Naomi Klein, author of No Logo, will take part in an anti-capitalist rally to start the week.
  • Susan George, international campaigner against Third World debt and the World Trade Organisation, will speak on The challenge to global capitalism.
  • Liz Davies of the Labour Party’s NEC, joins a discussion about Where is Labour going?
  • Julie Waterson of the SWP speaks on the new racism against asylum seekers.

“I WAS the Labour Party campaign organiser in North Southwark and Bermondsey from 1995 to 2000. Because of the crisis of New Labour, I hope Marxism will help develop a way forward in Britain which will involve people currently in and outside the Labour Party.”

  • PIERS CORBYN, South London

“I AM a Kurdish refugee from Iran. Going to Marxism for me will be like taking my mind on holiday, like going back home after eight years of living in exile. I have ticked off so many meetings on the timetable I want to go to. There is so much choice.”
