This year’s London Trans+ Pride march is more important than ever.
Launched in 2019, London Trans+ Pride has grown year on year to become a powerful act of collective defiance against transphobia and discrimination.
Some 60,000 people attended the event last year. But with rising political hostility, it is expected to be even bigger this Saturday.
The theme for this year’s event is “existence and resistance”, chosen by the organisers to acknowledge Labour’s recent attacks on trans+ rights.
Trans people are facing increasing marginalisation, exclusion and erasure following the transphobic Supreme Court ruling earlier this year.
The court ruled that the legal definition of a woman was based on “biological sex”.
The Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has since tried to restrict trans people from single sex spaces on this basis. And the Labour government has banned puberty blockers for trans+ people under the age of 18.
This year’s London Trans+ Pride is an opportunity to show the transphobic lawmakers, hate groups and politicians that we are the majority.
It is vital that trade unionists march with delegations from their workplaces and with their banners and show their support. The social power of the trade union movement must combine with defiance on the streets.

Join the annual celebration of trans+ people, past, present and future, and show solidarity with the trans+ community. We, in our thousands, must take to the streets to say trans women are women, trans men are men and non-binary people exist and should be respected.
