Firefighters in Coventry are demanding industrial action over penny-pinching bosses’ cuts to leisure facilities.
Some 85 percent of the 1,600 FBU union members voted for action short of a strike in a consultative ballot after bosses replaced sofas at the fire stations with office-style chairs.
The employers have even taken away snooker tables, dartboards and table football, saying they do not create a “professional” image.
The FBU says recreation time between call-outs is vital for firefighters’ morale.
