A house in Enfield, north London, almost burned down during last Saturday’s firefighters’ strike.

The fire exposed the incredible incompetence of private firm AssetCo’s scabs.

Evridiki and Hippokratis Spanos made six 999 calls about the fire in their roof.

It was 20 minutes before the scabs showed up.

The toytown fire force then took another 20 minutes to put together their hoses—and failed to aim them at the fire.

“One stood at the front of the house and another at the back, but the two water arcs missed the fire completely,” said Evridiki.

“It was a complete farce,” she added. The fire was only put out when the real firefighters came back on duty at 6pm.
