Over 500 Unison union members at the Food Standards Agency (FSA) will ballot to strike against an imposed 0.75 percent pay offer this week.
The meat hygiene inspectors, vets and support staff in England, Wales and Scotland overwhelmingly rejected the imposition in a consultative ballot.
They make sure meat is safe to eat and its production satisfies hygiene laws.
