NUT union members at Forest Hill School in Lewisham, south east London, were set to strike on Thursday of this week.
The teachers backed strikes by more than 93 percent in a recent ballot.
They are in dispute against a compulsory redundancy.
English teacher Adrian Stimpson is in the process of being made compulsorily redundant.
He told Socialist Worker, “The vote for strikes was impressive—only two people voted against taking action.”
Adrian is awaiting an appeal meeting with governors over his sacking.
The redundancy is particularly controversial because costly repayments on a PFI building lay behind the school’s budget deficit.
The teachers’ ballot was for discontinuous strikes—which means that there may be further days of action in the future.
