Over 100 Freedom Riders from all over South Yorkshire travelled by train to Meadowhall in Sheffield on Monday of this week.
They demanded the reinstatement of free train travel for older people.
Riders from Rotherham, Mexborough and Sheffield travelled for free. There were so many transport police in Barnsley that the protesters voted to pay for one stop just so they could get to Meadowhall.
Police threatened arrests, but the Freedom Riders then travelled without paying to Sheffield before heading back to Barnsley.
