Around 200 residential and daycare workers working for Fremantle in Barnet, north London, struck for 24 hours on Monday and Tuesday of this week. This follows another 24 hour strike earlier this month.

If anything the strike was even stronger this time. The mainly women workers, who are in the Unison union, struck after being told that their contracts would be ripped up and rewritten, leading to 30 percent wage cuts.

These are former council staff who had been transferred under Tupe regulations. Managers were taking photos of strikers in a bid to intimidate them. More action is now being discussed.
