Seven jailed protesters won appeals against their sentences in the Court of Appeal last week.
The seven were part of a group of ten who were given heavy sentences after taking part in the demonstrations against Israel’s war crimes in Gaza in January 2009.
This judgement shows that Judge Denniss, who imposed the original sentences on all but one of those who appealed, handed out punishments that were too high.
This means that many of the others in prison over the Gaza demonstrations now have strong grounds to appeal.
