The Palestinian people are continuing to resist Israel’s onslaught on the Gaza Strip. Israel has placed Gaza under siege since Palestinian groups took an Israeli soldier hostage late last month.

Israel wants to use this as an excuse to destroy the democratically elected Hamas government in the Palestinian territories.

Mohammed Omer, a Palestinian journalist who runs the website Rafah Today, told Socialist Worker, “Israel is bombing in the north of Gaza. Many people have been injured and killed by this awful incursion.

“I have been told by the United Nations radio that the Israelis want to destroy 450 houses in Gaza city. There is a horrible crisis here.

“Some people are praying that Hizbollah will beat Israel in Lebanon. Some are resisting here.”
