UCU union members in Gorseinon College, Wales, have voted by over 70 percent to strike against 10 planned job losses at the college. They will strike next Wednesday.
Most of the redundancies would hit adult education at a time when rising unemployment means more and more people are looking to reskill to find work.
Guy Stoate, chair of the UCU Wales further education committee, said, “This is a resounding message to management that we won’t sit idly by while these cuts are being made.”
