The government will formally apologise for Christopher Alder’s death in police custody in 1993.
The apology will be made through the European Court of Human Rights.
The statement will admit that the government violated Christopher’s right to life. The government will pay the Alder family £29,000.
Christopher choked to death on the floor of a police station in Hull. The Independent Police Complaints Commission found the police guilty of “unwitting racism” in his death.
