Former Labour MP David Chaytor was jailed for 18 months last week for fraudulently claiming more than £20,000 in expenses.
He admitted fiddling his expenses by forging documents. Yet despite being in jail for corruption in parliament, Chaytor still qualifies for a £54,000-plus “golden goodbye” payment for no longer being an MP.
