THE BIGGEST advertiser in the country is not a giant multinational but the New Labour government.
It spent 16.4 million on advertising in February, more than corporations like Unilever and Procter & Gamble. New Labour spent 113.5 million in the year to March 2000 on adverts.
NURSES ARE leaving hospitals in Scotland in record numbers, driven out by poor pay, low morale and long working hours. Almost a fifth of Scotland’s midwives and nurses have given up their jobs in the last three years, according to the UNISON union. A quarter of student nurses drop out of their courses because of poverty.
