Socialist Worker sellers were out last week campaigning over the crisis in the health service. At Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital 40 papers were sold, while 17 were sold at Homerton Hospital in Hackney and 12 at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Meanwhile on Saturday in the West Midlands 154 papers were sold on Birmingham High Street, 40 in Dudley and 32 in both Solihull and King’s Heath, plus 40 at the University of Central England and 33 at Warwick University.

Elsewhere 141 copies were sold in Leeds city centre plus 30 in Armley, 110 at the Monument in Newcastle, 106 in Broadmead in Bristol, 82 in Wood Green in north London and 69 in Southwark’s East Street Market, while 171 were sold in Manchester’s Market Street along with 31 in Cheetham Hill. Workplace sales last week in Hackney included 8 at Homerton School, 5 at

Colveston School, 4 copies of Socialist Worker and 2 copies of Socialist Review at Clapton Sorting Office and at the council’s environmental works. Other workplace sales included 19 at Riverside House, 13 at Bristol’s central telephone exchange and 7 at Manchester Town Hall. 14 copies of the Socialist Worker bus workers special edition were sold at Glasgow’s Buchanan Street bus station, 11 at West Norwood garage, and 10 at the passenger garage in Bury. At Westbourne Park bus garage in West London 6 papers, 1 Socialist Review and 2 specials were sold, while in south London 10 specials were sold at Camberwell garage, and 8 specials and 4 papers at Peckham garage

In the last week 4 people joined the Socialist Workers Party in Birmingham; 2 in Derby, Edinburgh Tollcross, Camberwell and Ealing; 1 in Huddersfield, Warwick University, Coventry University, Islington Sixth Form College, Oxford University, Manchester and on last Wednesday’s protest over the release of Pinochet.
