Laboratory biomedical scientists and support workers in the Unite union struck for on Tuesday of last week. Their employer, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, is imposing new working patterns.
There are insufficient staff to run the proposed rotas and existing staff will be forced to work excessive unsocial hours. This is coupled with cuts to on call payments meaning significant pay cuts.
The strike was well supported and picketing was lively with good public support and visits from other trade unionists against NHS cuts.
