NHS services across Shropshire are under attack.
All community healthcare services – such as district nursing, health visiting and physiotherapy – are set to be transferred to a social enterprise company.
This is just a first step towards out and out privatisation, as small social enterprises are crushed by big private companies.
Healthcare will be fragmented. Jobs, pay and pensions are all under threat.
Trade unionists at Shropshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Telford and Wrekin PCT understand the threats very well. Staff have voted by 87 percent to reject the social enterprise.
All the NHS unions are working together – this kind of unity and solidarity can win.
Trade unionists are now taking this fight out to the community, with plans for public meetings in Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Whitchurch and Ludlow in the week beginning 12 July.
Demonstrations will take place in these towns and in Oswestry on Saturday 17 July.
