SOME 100,000 workers across higher education staged a day of action over pay, workloads and working conditions on Tuesday of this week.
Staff held rallies and demonstrations in many cities. Leafleting sessions were held at colleges across the country.
That feeling was intensified when staff heard that employers at the University of North London were threatening to lock out staff who participated in the action. All staff received a letter last week saying work normally during the national action or “leave the university’s premises”.
