Holiday rip off

Banks are ripping holidaymakers off for 180 million a year. For every 100 spent on meals, petrol, souvenirs and hotel bills abroad, credit card handlers charge up to an extra 2.75. Cash withdrawal from machines is even more of a con. For every 100 taken out the bank adds another 4.75, although only 2 shows up on the statement.

Banks hide their charges by including them in the exchange rate of another currency into sterling.
