An angry 250-strong meeting of the Islington council workers’ Unison union last week called for action over cuts.

The workforce at the north London council’s Connexions youth service is to be reduced from 56 to 12 by April.

Bosses are also trying to push through an organisational change review that could see workers redeployed on worse pay and conditions.

The meeting voted to demand a strike ballot if this threat was not withdrawn.

A demonstration against the cuts is planned for Wednesday 15 December, assemble 4pm at Highbury Fields for march to Islington Town Hall.
