Up to 200 people attended a meeting to launch the Campaigning Alliance for Lifelong Learning (Call) on Tuesday of last week.
The campaign was launched by trade unionists, community groups, charities and students.
It aims to highlight the attacks on further and adult education and to campaign to defend them.
Richard McEwan, from Tower Hamlets college, told Socialist Worker, “There were lots of community education groups at the meeting – people involved in teaching refugees and teaching Esol.”
