Housing support workers at the Touchstone mental health charity in Leeds struck on Friday last week.

The strikers, who are members of the Unison union, are protesting at pay cuts of up to £4,000 a year.

Touchstone management set up job evaluation panels last year. These reported that existing pay levels were correct.

Bosses have since decided to ignore the results and force through massive cuts while awarding themselves rises.

Strikers said, “These cuts are opportunistic. They are not a response to budget cuts.

“Touchstone’s chief executive, Labour councillor Alison Lowe, has said she would choose to make these cuts no matter what the wider financial situation.”
