up to 2,000 people came to a rally against cuts in Liverpool last Saturday.
The rally, in the city’s Anglican Cathedral, followed a march through the streets.
It was organised by Merseyside trades council.
Chris Baugh of the PCS union spoke together with student Lizzie O’ Rourke, north west NUT secretary Avis Gilmore, Unite assistant general secretary Gail Cartmail and Tony Benn.
The Socialist Singers even sang “Fat Cat” to the tune of TV show Top Cat.
Benn concluded with a rallying call that “All progress has been made throughout our history by people doing exactly what you’re doing today—demonstrating.”
