London day centres win reprieve

Two London day centres have won reprieves thanks to anti-cuts campaigns.

Netherwood Day Centre in West Hampstead and Millman Street Resource Centre in Holborn were set to close.

But Camden council, which funds both, was forced into a U-turn after opposition over the “lifeline” centres.

Earlier this year elderly day centre users surrounded the Town Hall in their wheelchairs.
