More than 200 people protested last Saturday against the stationing of surface-to-air missiles in residential areas for the Olympics in Tower Hamlets, east London.
Guardian journalist Brian Whelan, who first spoke out about the missile plans, told Socialist Worker, “We’ve seen throughout the last decade that the ministry of defence don’t want to listen to the public. But I think they misjudged this one.”
Trade unionists and others addressed the protest.
