MPs back Yunus’s struggle for justice

The scandal surrounding the sacking of Newcastle nurse Yunus Bakhsh is set to reach parliament.

Labour MP John McDonnell has put forward an early day motion that condemns Northumbria, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust for unlawfully sacking Yunus for his trade union activity.

The motion also attacks the trust for refusing to accept the ruling of an Employment Tribunal that ordered Yunus be reinstated by 30 June.

News of Trust bosses’ stubborn disregard continues to shock trade unionists.

Yunus has once again been forced to hire lawyers in a bid to win his job back.

He is appealing for funds to ensure his former bosses don’t get away with flouting the law.

Journalists in the NUJ Left group last week circulated details of the case to all their members.

It is vital that collection sheets for Yunus’s campaign are circulated far and wide.

The campaign is also urging trade unionists to raise support John McDonnell’s motion with their local MPs.
