THE THREAT of strike action by South Yorkshire probation service workers has forced management to back down over introducing new contracts. The contracts would have scrapped the essential car user allowance, worth 900 a year. About 150 National Association of Probation Officers (NAPO) members voted by a two to one majority for strike action.
