Fire bosses were renewing their threat to sack all 5,500 of London’s firefighters as Socialist Worker went to press.
Fire authority sources were briefing London local press that bosses would go back on a pledge to lift redundancy notices they issued last year.
The firefighters’ FBU union struck against the sacking threat, but called the action off after bosses agreed to negotiate over shift changes.
But now a bosses’ motion to the London fire authority calls for it to force through the contracts. If they do, the union must call new walkouts.
