Anti-fascists were out in force in Manchester last Saturday in response to an attack by National Front (NF) thugs the week before.
Salford Labour councillor Howard Balkind joined local trade union and left activists.
He said, “I came today after reading about fascists attacking stalls in Market Square last week. I felt the need to offer my support today on a show of unity.”
Bernadette Hyland is an activist from Keep Our NHS Public in Manchester.
She said, “It’s just not acceptable for people to attack people campaigning to defend the NHS and we need everyone to be doing that at the moment.”
