Tory run Northamptonshire County Council is planning to cut at least 1,000 jobs.

The Tories plan to provide statutory services only and to privatise many of these. All 200 community youth workers will be sacked. Old people’s homes, learning disability daycare facilities, and libraries will be shut down.

The Unison union has decided so far to limit action to petitions, protests and lobbies in the run up to council decisions on Monday of next week and 23 February.

The Fire Brigades Union has threatened to take industrial action if the proposed cuts to their health and safety budget are implemented.
