Warehouse staff at Oxford University Press (OUP) struck on Tuesday of last week and plan two days of strikes this week.
The workers, in the Unite union, are fighting for decent pay. Around 90 warehouse staff struck at the OUP Corby distribution centre demanding a 4.2 percent pay rise.
They had no pay rise last year—yet other OUP workers received a 2 percent rise.
Bosses are now offering all workers 2 percent this year.
“The company is doing well,” said Steve Sibbald, Unite national officer. “It recorded an 8 percent increase in profits last year.
“Our members have shown great resolve against a company cynically attempting to exploit the current economic crisis.”
Unite has said that, unless the company backs down, workers could take “continuous” strike action.
