Over 40 people, including parents protested outside Essex County Council on Friday of last week against plans to close Deanes School in Benfleet, Essex.
Parents, pupils and Unison union members joined the protest.
The reason for the closure is cited as falling pupil numbers. However, some evidence suggests the figures used are incorrect.
Ray Gooding, cabinet member for Education and Lifelong Learning, announced his final decision to go ahead with the closure on Monday of this week. He isn’t a resident of the Benfleet area.
