The PCS women’s forum which took place last weekend was a great success.

Around 75 delegates and observers took part in the discussions which ranged from the campaign to break the pay limit to fighting fascism and combating the barriers that women face in society.

The forum was a great opportunity to debate and organise. It had a much more political edge than on previous occasions.

Women workers are often at the bottom of the pile. They face discrimination and are more likely to be low paid, to work part-time, and to be responsible both for childcare and the care of older relatives.

The forum recognised these specific issues, but also put them in the context of a broader struggle for workers’ rights and for positive social change.
