Management has launched an attack on seven CWU union members, four of them reps, in the wake of the recent strike.
A Northampton CWU member told Socialist Worker, “We thought this issue had been resolved as part of the back to work deal.
“Reps who had gone to the Crick distribution centre to inform workers there that we were on strike had their union facilities withdrawn for 28 days, as opposed to seven days for those who had not.
“They have been punished once. Why is Royal Mail re-opening the issue?” The union must defend members under attack in Northampton.
A strike was due to take place on Friday this week and Tuesday next week at the Eastern Delivery Office in a dispute about overtime payments. Some 60 workers have already held one 24-hour strike, but management has not come up with a new deal.
