Profit pledge
PRIVATE companies have been promised big profits from taking over part of the NHS. The shocking pledge came in a document from the Department of Health aimed at persuading companies to take over the arm of the NHS responsible for new buildings and selling off old buildings. It told company executives that “there is going to be profit return for you” in the plans. New Labour health secretary Alan Milburn wants to privatise NHS Estates, and has already renamed it Investures. A glossy brochure has been sent out to private firms to entice them to take over 51 percent of Investures.
