Campaigners held a protest outside parliament to coincide with a Labour-initiated debate about cuts to housing benefit on Tuesday of last week.
Around 100 people heard MPs, tenant campaigners and trade unionists condemn the cuts.
Earlier campaigners from Defend Council Housing, tenants’ associations and the Right to Work campaign, and Labour councillors agreed to launch a new campaign group.
It will target the attacks on housing benefit, the threat to secure tenancies, and plans to increase rents for housing associations to near market levels.
The charity Crisis also had a representative at the meeting.
