More than 80 protesters blocked the entrance to the offices of the Daily Express and Daily Star newspapers in London on Thursday of last week.
The angry demonstration followed the papers’ attacks on the rights of LGBT asylum seekers. A rally heard speakers from the UCU, PCS and NUJ unions as well as Unite Against Fascism. Representatives from migrants’ organisations also spoke.
Protesters leafleted workers leaving the building to show that the anger was against the papers’ owner Richard Desmond and not them as journalists.
The protest brought together a wide range of groups, including the SWP.
