The right wing media loves to say that public sector workers “pull sickies” every time they feel like a day off.
But a new TUC report exposes this myth. It found that more than one in five public sector workers have come to work in the last month despite feeling ill.
And one in three went to work when they were sick because they “didn’t want to let people down”.The government plans to make “savings” by cracking down on what it says is unjustified sick leave.
But the report shows that this will really mean trying to force more sick people to go into work.
