Following its success in the recent council by-election in Shadwell, Tower Hamlets, Respect is standing in a council by-election in Stonebridge ward, Brent, north west London.
The election will take place on Thursday 13 September.
Stonebridge is among the 15 percent most deprived wards in the country.
Activist and retired teacher Sarah Cox has been selected as Respect’s candidate.
Sarah told Socialist Worker, “Stonebridge has very high levels of deprivation.
“It also has appalling health inequality and lack of provision for young people. I have taught on the estate.
“People need a councillor who will fight for them and not follow the privatisation policies of the main parties.
“Respect has a chance to get a good vote here. But it is a big ward and we need help. We are asking people to come and help us campaign whenever they can.”
Respect will be leafleting and canvassing Stonebridge on Sunday afternoons.
Meet on Sunday 26 August, and 2 and 9 September at 2pm outside Harlesden station.
