NUT and NASUWT teachers’ union members took joint strike action at the Royal Docks school in Newham, east London, on Thursday of last week.
They were striking against proposals to transform the school into an academy, which would result in a change of employer.
The strike closed the school, and workers held a joint picket line outside as well as leafleting the parents at seven feeder primary schools. Many schools sent messages of support to the strikers.
Consultation is due to begin and activists are organising to make sure that teachers, parents and students across Newham take part in activities to make the case for comprehensive education.
