The grassroots campaign to get rid of Salford MP Hazel Blears has nominated its candidate for the general election.

The Hazel Must Go group has selected David Henry to stand as a Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) candidate.

David is a member of the local Green Party and co-chair of the Salford Youth Council.

He won a majority vote of Hazel Must Go campaign members at a selection meeting last week.

The campaign was formed after Blears was caught avoiding £13,000 of capital gains tax on the sale of her “second home” .

She claimed a total of £153,380 in expenses.

The campaign has put forward a list of ten demands as David Henry’s platform. They include no public spending cuts and opposition to closing the local maternity ward.
